I would say the Boston clogs boomed during COVID as well as strategic high fashion collabs and being seen worn by celebrities and influencers. Even until this day, the Birkenstock clogs have become such a well rounded and versatile shoe that women and men ages 14-60 can wear them without any doubts.

What I Liked: They will probably last you a decade.
What I Disliked: Pricey and the break-in period is annoying.
The Birkenstock Boston clog is one of those shoes that grows on you. Out of the box, it’s stiff and not really comfortable, especially if you have small petite feet like me. But once the footbed breaks in, I get why people swear by them. The support is legit and they’re easy to throw on for everyday errands, travel days, or working from home. That said, they are bulky, especially if you’re petite, and the price feels steep for a casual clog you’re mostly wearing with sweats, jeans, or socks. The suede material also shows wear quickly if you’re not careful, which is annoying at this price point. Overall, they’re solid and well made, but not perfect, and that’s exactly why I started looking for alternatives.
What I Liked: They are very affordable and look very similar to the original birkenstock boston clogs
What I Disliked: Made from cheap materials like polyester and rubber so probably won't last you as long.
Target is known for having amazing affordable alternatives to almost anything, including even the infamous birkin bag. If you are on Tiktok, you know the whole Bethenny and Target birkin fiasco.
These Universal Thread Betsy Clogs look very similar to the Birkenstock Boston clogs just under $30. That being said, I think we can all agree if a shoe costs $30 they won't last you long. If you are looking to rock the boston clog look, this is a good option. But just be aware that they probably will last you 6 months to a year max. And will likely won't be as comfortable and mold to your feet overtime like the original ones do. They are made from recycled polyester, rubber, acetate, and zinc alloy. So the materials are synthetic which probably won't be as breathable and comfortable as the original.
What I Liked: The faux fur detailing on the inside makes a great house slipper
What I Disliked: Not ideal for outdoor walks
So, these aren't a carbon copy of the signature boston clogs, but they were cute enough that I had to add it to the list. These are a great option for wearing around the house and just lounging around. They are very lightweight and super comfortable since they have faux fur inside them. Overall, they make a great house slipper that your feet will love.
What I Liked: Memory foam insole, 100% genuine leather upper, and overall good value for your money.
What I Disliked: Started to see wear on them after 4-5 try-ons.
These Amazon Birkenstock alternatives are a good option compared to all the other brands I've researched. Would I say they are an exact copy of the originals? No. But for $45, you are getting good value for your money. They have a memory foam insole so I did find them to be comfortable, the upper section of the shoe is genuine leather, and they come in a lot of fun different colors that Birkenstock does not offer. Given the price, I did notice the shoes show a bit of wear after 4 wears, which the originals did not tend to do that. Overall, I think you are getting good value for your money here if you are looking for an affordable alternative to the boston clogs.
What I Liked: Looks almost identical to the original, good quality, midsole made from 100% natural cork
What I Disliked: My foot would occasionally slip out making it difficult to walk outdoors.
Out of this entire list, these Quince Water Repellent Suede Clogs seem to have been my favorite. Not only do they look almost identical to the original boston clogs, but they are also made from 100% water repellent leather as well as a handmade natural cork midsole. As far as looks and quality goes, these are pretty close to the original.
One thing that I did notice was that when I would walk outdoors or long distances, my foot would slide out from the shoe occasionally making it a bit difficult to walk. I would say the break in period is just as long as the original, however the originals seem to be more durable and will last longer. For the price point of $74 however, I will say you are getting your moneys worth 100%.
What I Liked: Very comfortable (once broken in), looks identical to the original Birkenstock, and I really like the color options that are offered.
What I Disliked: The outsole did not have great grip compared to the other options.
These are very comfortable once they’re broken in and honestly look almost identical to the original Birkenstock Boston, which I appreciate. The footbed molds nicely to your foot over time, making them easy to wear for long days, and the color options are a big win if you want something beyond the usual neutrals. The only real downside I noticed was the outsole. The grip isn’t as strong as some of the other alternatives I tested, so they’re better for everyday wear than slick floors or wet conditions. Overall, they’re a solid option if comfort and the classic Boston look are your top priorities, just not the pair I’d reach for in rainy or slippery situations.
What I Disliked: Runs half a size small and the print does not match with everything.
You can always count on Nordstrom Rack having great affordable alternatives. For the price, the quality really surprised me. They feel well made, sturdy, and more elevated than I expected, especially compared to other alternatives in this range. That said, they do run about half a size small, so I’d recommend sizing up. The cowhide print is fun and trendy, but it’s definitely more of a statement and doesn’t go with everything, which makes them less versatile for everyday wear. If you like fun shoes and don’t mind styling around them, these are a great value option, just be mindful of the sizing.

If you liked the MIA clogs above but not the print, these are the better pick. Same style, just in a brown colorway that’s easy to wear and surprisingly versatile. They were comfortable right away with no break in period, which is a big win compared to the other alternatives. The price makes them a great value, but they are made from synthetic materials, so keep that in mind if you prefer real suede or leather.

This is the highest customer rated Amazon alternative and one of the best values at under $40. They feel surprisingly solid for the price, and it makes sense why they have so many good reviews. They do run about half a size small, so I’d size up, and there is a short break in period. The rubber sole isn’t my favorite compared to more premium options, but overall these are a great affordable pick if you want the Boston look without spending a lot.
